For many college students, Sorority Bid Day is something they have dreamed of for years. This event is the opportunity to begin a new chapter in their life, surrounded by a strong community of women to support them. While the recruitment process can seem scary, stressful, and full of emotions, this day can be very meaningful.

Miami University traditionally celebrates this day on Super Bowl Sunday, giving these students the opportunity to bond with other women and new friends, while celebrating and watching the big game! Each sorority plans their own event that day, which is an amazing opportunity to recognize what they are about to be a part of. From photo booths, catered dinners, live bands, and merchandise giveaways, these parties are a lot of fun for both current and new members of the organization.

Here’s a general breakdown of the day:

  • The fun kicks off with students meeting their Rho Gamma (a temporarily disaffiliated panhellenic leader) in their assigned building and then walking through campus to Millett Hall.
  • Once at Millett, everyone opens their bid card — at the same time — to reveal the sorority they are now members of. This moment is so exciting!
  • The students then run to a station where a representative from their new sorority is posted and handing out T-shirts and taking photos of the new members.
  • After recognizing each sorority in Millett, the camaraderie continues.

Greek life members make up 30% of the Miami student body, and each chapter offers something different! The real question is, where will you run home to on bid day?

Check out the anticipation from this year’s event. Cheers, everyone!
