A Weekend to Remember: Miami University Family Weekend 2025
November 11, 2025 | Sadie VanNatter
Family Weekend at Miami University, held Oct. 23–26, brought students and their loved ones together for a successful weekend filled with RedHawk spirit and lasting memories. A chill in the fall air set the perfect backdrop for athletic events, performances, and Uptown festivities celebrating life at Miami. (Here’s a look at our pre-event blog post for even more Family Weekend fun!)
Friday Highlights
Families started pouring in Thursday night and Friday morning, filling the streets of Oxford with friendly faces and smiles. During the day, families took part in the silent auction through the Miami University Student Foundation (MUSF) along with the Kendra Scott Trunk Show and Asian Cultural Fest. Friday evening, we were joined by Seth Meyers for a stand-up comedy show at Millett Hall. The show received a great turnout and lots of laughs.

Saturday Highlights
Saturday morning brought a pleasant change of pace with families meandering through the Oxford Farmers Market, participating in yoga in the park at Uptown Parks, and joining President Gregory P. Crawford and University Ambassador Dr. Renate Crawford for M.O.V.E. Bootcamp. Participants of the bootcamp received free swag to wear during the football game later on.
As the afternoon approached, families packed into the Millett parking lot for tailgate parties. The lot was full by 11 a.m. Heading into the game, the RedHawks struggled early on, but they were able to pull out a win. Beating Western Michigan 26-17, the RedHawks added a fifth win to their winning streak.

But the fun didn’t stop after the game. The Family Weekend Food Truck Fest brought people together on the Academic Quad for food, live entertainment, and a great sunset. Some families went to the a cappella concert after, while others stopped by Armstrong Student Center to make custom Miami merch.
Sunday Highlights
Sunday had a slower, more relaxed feel as the weekend came to an end, highlighted by the success of the silent auction, which raised nearly $5,000 to support student scholarships. The event was a meaningful way to close out Family Weekend, showing how the Miami community continues to give back and support students. Many families also stopped by Patterson’s Café for brunch — a favorite final stop before heading home — while others visited Oxford United Methodist Church for pottery painting.

Family Weekend was the perfect mix of fun, connection, and Miami pride. From the busy events to the quieter moments spent exploring campus, the weekend gave families a chance to experience life in Oxford and make lasting memories together.
